One of our bad habits is eating out more than we should. My husband and I both work, the kids have activities and the evenings are pretty chaotic so it is easy cave when my son want's Bugs and Cheese. It is favorite meal at our favorite family restaurant Boston Pizza.
During this month I want to try and recreate as many of the things we like to eat out at home as possible so I started with Bug's and Cheese. I googled it and a recipe is hard to find. The BP description says it is bug noodles smothered in an Alfredo Sauce with pizza cheese. I can handle that. Here is my recipe:
1 cup uncooked noodles ( I used Penne)
2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp Philly cream cheese
1-1 1/3 c milk
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup PC Three Cheese shredded cheese blend.
1. Cook your noodles then make a simple white sauce.
2. melt yourbutter in a pan then add the flour and stir well.
3. add your milk and cubed Philly. Stir on low heat until the cheese meltsand you have a nice thick white sauce.
4. season to your taste with salt, pepper and garlic if you wnt.
5 add your shredded cheese and stir until it melts.
6. add your noodles and combine well.
You can serve as is or top with more cheese and broil in the oven for a few minutes.
Well it was a total hit! B loved it! Next I am going to tackle my favorite dish....BP's Bacon Chipotle Penne.
This ain't bugs and cheese
ReplyDeleteSO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteThis was spot on...even better than BP's. Kids who are now teenagers still love it and ask for it regularly.
ReplyDeleteDon’t get me wrong, this is very good. Especially with some Parmesan on top. It doesn’t taste like Boston pizza tho. Wayyy too thick and creamy. You made a cream sauce, rather than an Alfredo. To anyone making this, don’t be shy to make it as it’s pretty good, but it’s definitely not bp.
